Through this course you can learn to brush up your spoken English and give you confidence and strategies to improve your speaking skills. In this interactive training, participants will get the opportunity to practise every day conversations and learn ways to overcome their lack of confidence and strategies to enhance oral interaction.
Target Audience
Teachers who want to help their learners become speakers and teachers who are not confident of their spoken English.
Topics
- How to use appropriate forms of social interaction
- How to use listening skills to identify/infer a speaker’s purpose for communication
- How to improve pronunciation through practice of phonemes and their corresponding graphemes in the English language
- How to use communication strategies to convey your own ideas and point of view effectively
- How to use self -learning strategies to enhance oral interaction beyond the life of this training
Facilitators
Huma M. Thaver has been affiliated with ESL, EFL and ESP teaching/learning for the past 17 years. She has successfully designed, co-ordinated and conducted ELT workshops / courses at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels across Pakistan. Having completed two tenures as a Conference Co-coordinator, now she is the workshop co-coordinator for a second term. She has co-ordinated two SPELT/ ED-LINKS projects. She holds a Masters degree in Linguistics from the University of Karachi, an ICELT Certificate from Cambridge University through SPELT and Master Teacher Trainer Certificate from Teachers’ Development Center. She also has the honour of being a British Council Hornby Scholar in Nepal and has earned an online certification on Critical Thinking in EFL from Oregon University, USA.
Lubna Panjwani is currently working as the Vice-Principal and Head of the English Department, Shaheen Public School System. She holds a masters in Linguistics from Karachi University and has done the Cambridge University certificate for Overseas Teachers of English Language. She is also a PMTA and PMC Certified Montessori Directress and ECD trainer. She has trained thousands of teachers during her career as an ELT practitioner for more than a decade. Other than Pakistan, she has taken trainings in English Language Teaching from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Uzbekistan, India and USA. She is the elected SPELT Working Committee Coordinator for 2010-11.
